Investigation of C-reactive protein and AIM2 methylation as a marker for PTSD in Australian Vietnam veterans

چکیده

Chronic inflammation is a key factor in symptomology and comorbidities of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Levels proinflammatory marker, C-reactive protein (CRP) are increased individuals with PTSD but it not clear if this due to trauma exposure or PTSD. Our study aimed assess the relationship between serum CRP levels, SNPs, methylation, mRNA expression homogenous exposed Australian Vietnam veteran cohort. We hypothesized that decreased DNA methylation would be associated gene peripheral levels patients independent trauma. Participants were 299 veterans who had all been approximately half diagnosed observed higher group compared non-PTSD after controlling for BMI triglycerides association did remain significant. No was found SNPs levels. Absent Melanoma 2 (AIM2) which mediator inflammatory response determinant analysed expression. trend level AIM2 age, smoking, triglycerides, cell types. There no significant interaction on covariates. as decreased, increased. Elevated cohort there effect results could confirm marker older veterans. may broad disease risk, younger cohorts than those study.

Serum C-reactive protein as a marker for wellness assessment.

C-reactive protein (CRP), a nonspecific inflammatory marker, is widely used to monitor treatment of cardiovascular diseases (high serum CRP levels indicate poor outcome of heart disease). A healthy lifestyle decreases serum CRP levels, while obesity, physical inactivity, and smoking increase them. CRP, a stable pentameric protein, has a half-life of 19 hr, is not subject to diurnal variation, a...

C-reactive protein as a marker for acute coronary syndromes.

BACKGROUND For several years, acute coronary syndromes have been perceived as causing the most hospital admissions, and even hospital mortality. The syndrome of unstable angina frequently progresses to acute myocardial infarction but its pathogenesis is poorly understood, and prognosis determination is still problematic. We tested the hypothesis that measurement of the C-reactive protein in pat...

Comparison of Homocysteine and C-reactive protein Levels Between Active and Inactive Veterans

Background: homocysteine and highly sensitive C-reactive protein (CRP) are two novel cardiovascular risk factors that induce atherosclerosis and myocardial infarction through inflammatory mechanisms. The aim of this study was to comparison of levels of these variables among athlete and nonathlete veterans. Methods: in this cross-sectional study two groups of athletes (N=8) and nonathlete (N=8) ...

C-reactive protein as a prognostic marker in lymphocytic myocarditis.

The prognosis of patients with lymphocytic myocarditis (LM) is poor with the combined endpoint of death or transplant in the Myocarditis Treatment trial being 56% at 5 years. Physicians often have difficulty determining the prognosis in an individual patient. Patients with LM may have ongoing myocardial inflammation. We evaluated the ability of a serum marker of inflammation to predict prognosi...

C Reactive Protein as a Marker of Asthma Control

CRP is a marker of inflammation and increased levels have been associated with aging, smoking, cardiovascular diseases, connective tissue disorders and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Asthma is defined as a state of chronic inflammation where various cellular elements are involved. It is reasonable to expect elevated CRP levels in this chronic inflammatory disease. Hs-CRP assays a...
